David Wayne Fish- A Synonym for Superior Medical Equipment

health11

When we take a look at the medical industry, we often amaze ourselves at the efficiency of the employees of the medical centers. However, most of us fail to realize that a major chunk of the credit for this competence goes to the persons responsible for the production of superior quality medical equipment’s which in turn make the medically related work simple and flawless.

One man who has known far and wide in this respect of producing and providing quality medical equipment is David Wayne Fish. The man is an impeccable blend of medical expertise as well as marketing genius, which explains his consistently firm grip on the market. It is not just the hospitals and other medical centers that have benefitted from his novel products; the equipment is being used extensively used in homes of the disabled and as a means of personal care by the health conscious.

His expertise and experience in the medical field has also earned him the repute of being a health guru and a professional trainer with people flocking him for advice related to workouts and health in general. He claims that regular exercise affects not only the body but also the mind and the psychology of a person. A person can get rid of his negativity, stress and tension. Also, contrary to popular belief, a good workout is a good way of dealing with exhaustion. By exercising, the energy levels of a person boost up and he becomes more active. The other benefits of exercise would be getting better sleep, anger-management, building focus, higher confidence and an improved social life. In simple words, regularly working out brings out the best in an individual.

While promoting workouts, David W. Fish also makes it a point to lay emphasis on the importance of a moderate workout. Just when other trainers are busy pushing their clients to the level of exhaustion, this man maintains that irrespective of the current health conditions of the person, in the beginning phase, workouts must be undertaken not more than five days a week for 30 minutes session each. Henceforth, the amount of time spent working out will depend on the goal that the person is intending to achieve through the fitness program. Another important piece of advice to people working on their fitness levels is that they should increase the intensity or duration of their workout at their own pace. Comparing one’s workout with others and forcing the body to do more than it can handle can lead to serious injury.

Yoga – Contraindications For Inversions

images1

As we practice yoga poses we want to do also inversions. Most common inversions are the Headstand and the Shoulderstand. But there are not only those two poses which are the inverted asanas.

Any posture in which the head is below the heart is called an inversion. Whether you stand on your head, bend forward or bend back, if your head is below your heart, you are performing an inversion.

This also means that Downward Facing Dog, Standing Forward Bend and Fish pose are also inversions; although those poses are mild in comparison to a Headstand. The Camel pose can also be an inversion if you bend back far enough.

Remember – inversions are not for everyone!

Your intentions should be clear when you perform any yoga posture. If the risks may outweigh the benefits there is no logical reason why you should practice any pose which can harm you.

Contraindications for practicing inversions:

If you have any of the following conditions, please omit inversions or work with a qualified and experienced teacher who will never put you at risk and tried to modify your practice.

Anyone who has high blood pressure, heart related problems, eye issues, neck problems, epilepsy, previous stroke or sinus problems should never practice Headstand or Shoulderstand, and omit other mild inversions or be adjusted by the yoga teacher.

During any stage of pregnancy yoga should be practiced in a prenatal yoga classes specifically designed for that purpose or privately with a qualified pregnancy yoga teacher.

During menstruation Headstand and Shoulderstand preferably should be omitted and other milder inversions should not be hold for long, but because of the controversy about the inversions during menstruation it is your personal choice. Let your body guide you.

If you are a yoga teacher explain to your students why the inversions can be dangerous for them if they have any of the condition mentioned earlier.

Why not stand on your head when you have pain in your neck or neck injury? What first thing will come to your mind as you there? Ouch … my neck! Can my small neck carry my whole weight as I am inverted?

Most students put lots of weight on their head and neck instead of shoulders. Use your common sense and listen to your body. Intuition will never let you down.

Why omit headstand if I have high blood pressure? Because the danger is when your blood pressure increase from 100/60 mm Hg while standing on your feet to 150/110 mm Hg or even higher when you go for headstand.

Why Vegetarians Are Less Healthy

health13

Roughly, about 6% of the world’s population is vegetarian, a trend that is growing. Yet study after study shows that vegetarians are less healthy than their non-vegetarians peers. Why is this so? Surely a diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables should make you healthier, not less healthy, so what’s going on?

In the light of extraordinary new research it is becoming apparent that most vegetarians are in fact less healthy than their non-vegetarian peers. By “peers” I mean people of a similar socio-economic and cultural background. Any valid comparison between vegetarians and non-vegetarians must compare apples with apples. For example, any study that compared an affluent health-conscious vegetarian from California with an impoverished meat eater from the slums of Calcutta is not likely to be meaningful.

Recent studies are clearly showing that compared to their non-vegetarians peers, vegetarians are more at risk of diseases such as infertility, cancer, heart disease, eating disorders, mental disease, and obesity.

Several studies have compared health-conscious vegetarians with health-conscious non-vegetarians from the same demographic (the same socio-economic, health-conscious cohort). In other words, scientists have compared vegetarians and non-vegetarians from similar backgrounds so as to validate the results and they have come up with some surprising conclusions.

For example, in a study of 76,000 people conducted over many years data from five studies were pooled into a very large collaborative analysis of mortality in vegetarians and non-vegetarians (Appleby PN, Key TJ, Thorogood M, Burr ML, Mann J. Mortality in British vegetarians. Public Health Nutr. 2002 Feb;5(1):29-36).

The Appleby Study compared vegetarians and non-vegetarians, adjusted for age, sex and smoking. The results for all-cause mortality showed no significant difference between vegetarians and their non-vegetarian peers. Many studies have shown that vegetarians live longer than the population at large, but the Appleby Study showed that this is not the case when you compare people within the same demographic. The study concluded that ‘Overall mortality was the same between vegetarians and non-vegetarians. But vegetarians had 2.2 times the death rate from mental and neurological diseases as non-vegetarians.’

Several studies have compared vegetarians and non-vegetarians within the same demographic and the research is clearly showing that vegetarians are at greater risk of heart disease, cancer, infertility and other diseases. As most studies have compared vegetarians with the population at large, this is not widely known; such studies provide a false picture because the population at large is not particularly health-conscious.

This begs the question: does this mean that eating animal products is good for health? The research on the whole says NO. So if vegetarians are less healthy than their non-vegetarian peers, what is the reason? Why is it that vegetarians are less healthy than their non-vegetarians peers in the same demographic? This is the vegetarian paradox.

B Vitamins, Type 2 Diabetes, Depression

health16

Since 1993, I’ve dealt with type 2 diabetes personally. Well before that date, I was dealing with emotional depressions of varying depths. For a significant portion of my life, I knew of no other way of being. My depression has seemed stronger than therapy, medications, and anything else I tried to make it so I could feel like other people looked.

This dissatisfaction has been endured, not enjoyed in the least. I’ve paid a series of costs over time. The level of B vitamins, which are key in the development and maintenance of the nervous system, are well connected with type 2 diabetes and clinical depression. This is what some doctors have deduced and documented in published reports.

B vitamins can be proven to be related to depression control, here’s some proof. In a report published in Psychosomatics in the late 1980’s, A. Missagh Gharirian of McGill University in Montreal, it was stated that low levels of the B vitamin folic acid was linked to depression. Relief of depression was achieved with folic acid supplementation when people that had both issues were studied under Dr. Ghadirian’s care. Modification of depression occurred within 100 days of folic acid supplementation.

folic acid was given at generally accepted dosages:800 mg a day for soon-to-be mothers, 500 mg a day for nursing mothers, and 400 mg a day for adults. Unused amounts are removed within 24 hours by the body – it is water soluble.

Absorbable folic acid is abundant in vegtable broth from warming fresh vegetables.

B vitamins are easily blocked from the body through interaction with many over-the-counter and prescription drugs. Some of the things that interfere with B vitamins include Vitamin C at high levels, several chemotherapy drugs, both aspirin (commonly prescribed to type 2 diabetics) and acetaminophen (Tylenol),

A common type 2 diabetic drug is metaformin. It controls both glucose and encourages insulin sensitivity. It also interferes with vitamin B12 absorption. Decreased B12 absorption is proven in between 10 and 30 percent of the type 2 diabetics that are taking metaformin, according to the Diabetes Self Management blog. Some people increased their energy dramatically by supplementing with B12, according to posts at that blog.

A lack of energy will certainly encourage — is that the right word?– depression, and a nervous system that produces numbness and tingling in the feet certainly isn’t up to snuff as well. My point is that even if there isn’t a proven link specifically between type 2 diabetes, B12 vitamin deficiency, and depression, it certainly wouldn’t be much of a stretch. Especially for some who lives through it, like me.

Hospital Negligence Causes Death

images4

Medical malpractice is a difficult area of the law. Negligence must be proven in order to win a judgment.

The example of a woman who died last year is particularly poignant, because it was a death that need not have happened but for the negligence of hospital staff. Mrs. Pender(names have been changed to protect the victim), a mental patient, died in November 2008 at a county run hospital after being left in a waiting area for 90 minutes without anyone checking on her. During her wait, Mrs. Pender stopped breathing and when found, had no pulse.

The medical malpractice lawsuit filed stated that the hospital had failed to monitor and supervise Mrs. Pender and that such negligence resulted in her death. The Coroner listed multiple drug intoxication as the cause of death. Mrs. Pender was in the county hospital waiting for a transfer to another facility and was, according to hospital protocol, seated in a waiting area.

Although the paramedic team that took Mrs. Pender to the county hospital indicated she did not exhibit suicidal behavior, she was a well-known patient at the hospital due to her extensive and highly unstable psychiatric history. The lawsuit speculates that Mrs. Pender was left alone for 90 minutes because no one truly believed there was anything wrong with her, other than the “usual” psychotic symptoms.

Whatever the true reasons were for leaving a heavily drugged psychiatric patient alone and unattended for 90 minutes, the facts are clear. Mrs. Pender went in cardiac arrest and stopped breathing because no one was monitoring her during her wait. If they had been watching her, she may be still alive today. In part, the plaintiffs medical malpractice suit, filed by Mrs. Penders daughter, states that the family has lost a kind and loving woman due to the negligence of the hospital.

While this case is an example of a medical malpractice lawsuit, it is also an example of a wrongful death lawsuit. In instances like the ones in this case, it is best to discuss the pertinent details with a dedicated and knowledgeable personal injury attorney. Only the attorney will be able to assess the facts of the case and determine which route would be best to recover damages for the types of personal injuries involved in your specific case.

Not all medical errors are classified as medical malpractice and in order to know your rights and understand how filing a medical malpractice lawsuit or a wrongful death suit works, you must speak to a skilled personal injury attorney.

Healthy Diet Plans-how To Stay Fit And Healthy Your Whole Life

images12

Healthy diet plans do not mean that you should starve to remain fit and agile. Your diet plan has to be linked to your body constitution, your daily routine and your metabolism factor.

A healthy diet plan keeps you light, fresh and mentally active through out the day. While there are a number of theories about the contents of a healthy diet plan, modern research proves that your diet plan should encourage you to eat healthy and eat organic foods.

Your diet plan should include eating small and medium servings at least 4-5 times a day, as compared to 2-3 heavy meals. Small and varied servings throughout the day keep you content without a heavy feeling. It also helps you avoid getting that craving for mid-meal snacks.

Make it a point to include generous amounts of fresh fruits, green vegetables, whole grain cereals and milk products in your diet plan. Fresh and organic fruits are good source of vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates and develop your immunity levels. Green vegetables are rich in iron, calcium and minerals.

If you are a non-vegetarian, then fish and egg white can be taken to meet your protein requirements. Pulses, nuts, tofu and beans are a good option for vegetarians.

One major misgiving about a healthy diet plan is that fat needs to be avoided at all costs. Remember that fat is an important element for your body to function efficiently.

It is like oil to your body machinery. You need to take unsaturated fats available in olive, sunflower and corn and avoid the saturated variety, which is generally found in animal products and bakery items.

Also, keep an eye on your calorie intake. Your calorie consumption is linked to your activity level and structure. People leading a sedentary life style require less calories compared to those who are more physically active. Gradually reduce your consumption of calories, if you are taking more than you need. Do not bring your intake to less than 1200 per day or otherwise you will feel burnt out.

Thus, to follow a healthy diet plan, you need to think positively and be prepared to make changes in your life style and food habits. Moderation is the key to success, and balanced food is an important ingredient for healthy and happy living.

The Importance Of Vitamins For Hair Loss

images10

Our hair requires some essential vitamins for healthy growth, should you be suffering from hair fall the use of vitamins for hair loss will provide all the required ingredients. The majority of these vitamins should include B complex vitamins, Inosital, and Vitamins A and E.

Many of these vitamins assist in hair growth and make them healthy and strong. While others nourish the scalp strengthening each hair strand and giving the overall healthy shiny finish. Hair loss vitamins including 4-aminobenzoic acid help your hair by preventing them from turning grey.

These vitamins for hair loss may not be able to help you grow new hair in case the follicles of your hair are already damaged. The use of vitamins on their own is not enough to repair damaged follicles. They possibly will help the remaining hair to be healthier, stronger and grow faster but they can not help you grow new hair from the hair follicles that are already dead.

Hair loss is down to a number of contributing factors not just genetics, poor diets and stress are among the top ones. An improper diet does not supply the sufficient amount of nutrients required by the body to function normally. Any deficiency or nutrient shortage in the body is reflected by the unhealthy hair.

One particular vitamin that can be of assistance is vitamin E. A vital vitamin for encouraging blood circulation in the scalp will insure the right nutrients get to the follicles for better growth. Vitamins E can be found in most leafy green vegetables. The downside to this is people not eating enough vegetables will not obtain the required amounts of vitamins needed.

Its surprising to know that many people forget that a healthy body needs a healthy diet and this will reflect in healthy hair. When you reach a desperate state of hair loss searching for a miracle cure is the first thing everyone looks for, but many a time the core of the problem is in the foods you eat.

Apart from vitamin E and all the vitamins mentioned earlier, fatty acids are another essential dietary requirement. Canola oil, walnuts, soy and fish should be consumed as they are rich in fatty acids. It is suggested by research that intakes of omega-3 fatty acids and fish are connected to reduced rates of depression. Since stress and depression lead to hair loss upping your intake of omega-3 will reduce the risk of depression.

Vitamins for hair loss cannot be of help until and unless you have a proper and healthy diet. Finding a good source of nutritonal foods full of the requirements for hair loss will help prevent further problems and possibly reverse some damage if caught in time.

Liquid Vitamins And Dr. Oz

images3

Liquid vitamins and Dr Oz are a likely pair. Both are committed to giving you the best advice for living a healthy and energetic life. And with liquid vitamins and Dr Oz, you can be sure that their advice is reliable and not the latest fad.

Who is this Dr. Oz?

Mehmet Oz is a cardiac surgeon and the co-author of “You: On a Diet” as well as other helpful books geared toward improving the life of the patient. By using his medical background and combining advice from alternative therapies, people are seeing remarkable change in their lives. Liquid vitamins and Dr Oz are making their way into homes across the country, across the world.

Dr. Oz is trying to let people know that they do have a role to play in their own health often more so than their physicians do. He wants people to realize that we can change our health by making small changes in our life.

Why this connection?

Liquid vitamins and Dr Oz just make sense. With our fast paced lives, it’s become harder to get the nutrients that we need in our everyday diet. But by supplementing our diets with liquid vitamins, we can fill in those gaps that our stressful lives create.

And when we make sure that we’re getting our vitamins and minerals, our bodies can handle a lot more than they can when they’re running on empty. We have more energy and vitality and we can face our days head on.

To add even more benefits, liquid vitamins also includes antioxidants that allow the body to fend off the effects of pollution and free radicals in the air. These damaging elements in the air can cause cellular damage that often leads to cancer but this can be offset with Liquid vitamins and Dr Oz agrees.

What does this mean for you?

When you hear advice about liquid vitamins and Dr Oz agrees with the recommendation, you need to start listening. Liquid vitamins aren’t just the latest ‘fad’ to follow; they’re something that you need to get ready for the stress of the world around you.

Of course, you should also try to eat right and exercise, but if you don’t’ have the time (and many of us don’t), these liquid vitamins can help to protect you until you do find the time.

By giving you antioxidants, quality ingredients, and health benefits, liquid vitamins and Dr Oz all work together to make a healthier new you.

Ingredients Contained in Supplements Such as Hemo Rage

health18

When it comes to workout supplements such as Hemo Rage, there are certain ingredients that have been added specifically to ensure that individuals perform optimally, and those who are thinking about using them should take the time to find out about how they work. Some of the best supplements on the market are those that contain ingredients that are naturally occurring within the body, and this is because they can give the body a boost without forcing a person to consume chemically manufactured products. In the end, however, products often combine manufactured and naturally occurring ingredients to allow people to get what they need when they work out.

1.Taurine

Taurine is well known as a beta-amino acid, and some of its main functions are the improvement of cardio functioning, as well as regulating electrolytes within the body. Athletes who get a lot of muscle cramps during their workout are often advised to take a supplement containing Taurine, such as Hemo Rage, since it can help somewhat in alleviating this symptom.

2.L-Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate

L-Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate is a supplement that is often associated with optimal athletic performance. Some studies have shown that high levels of ammonia in the system, when combined with this supplement, can actually assist in reducing the associated difficulties with ammonia toxicity. Further studies still have to be conducted to ensure that these results are accurate, however, and so people shouldn’t rely solely on these results.

3.Acetyle-L-Tyrosine

Lastly, Acetyle-L-Tyrosine is another ingredient commonly used in workout supplements and this is because it works as the protein’s building blocks. The body naturally manufactures this amino acid by using phenylalanine, but this product can also be found in food substances such as beans, eggs, wheat, meat, fish and oats, among others. In some instances, people apply this substance to their skin because it has been known to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. People with PKU are often advised to take supplements containing this ingredient since these individuals are unable to manufacture tyrosine within their body, and so to keep them in optimal condition, they need to complement their diet with this supplement.

In the end, people need to make smart choices about the supplements that they use to enhance their workouts, and this means getting to know what their body needs to function optimally. As you become more experienced in the use of these supplements, you can obtain more accurate results, and this makes putting in the effort to do the research more than worthwhile.

Patient’s Birthday Wishes Benefit Shriners Hospitals

images2

Osteogenesis imperfecta are big words, especially for a 6-year-old. But the words are a medical term that Leigh Dittman is not only able to easily say; she knows exactly what it means.

Leigh was registered as a patient at Shriners Hospitals for Children-Tampa before she was even born. Her parents realized their baby would need orthopaedic care when technicians noticed Leigh’s legs were shorter than normal during one of Ellen Dittman’s sonograms. Doctors were unable to diagnose the problem before Leigh’s birth but knew it was orthopaedic-related. Ellen and her husband, David, contacted the Tampa Shriners Hospital.

When Leigh was born, she measured only 15.5 inches long, and doctors discovered she had broken five ribs and fractured a femur in utero. A few hours after her birth, Leigh was diagnosed with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), a genetic disorder caused by imperfectly formed bone collagen. The condition is commonly known as “brittle bone disease” and is characterized by bones that break easily, often from little or no apparent cause.

First Treatment At 3 Weeks Old

Leigh received her first treatment at the Tampa Shriners Hospital when she was three weeks old. She now goes in every few months to receive intravenous medicine meant to increase bone density, but Leigh usually stops by the hospital at least once a month to visit her doctors and the many friends she’s made there. “We love it,” said Ellen. “That hospital is like our second home.”

In appreciation of the loving care Leigh receives at the Tampa hospital, the Dittman family began raising money for Shriners Hospitals. “It was actually Leigh’s idea,” said Ellen. “She says Shriners helps her, so she wanted to help them.”

An Overwhelming Response

Beginning with Leigh’s fourth birthday party in 2004, the Dittmans asked that, in lieu of bringing gifts, guests donate money to Shriners Hospitals. Due to the overwhelming response from loved ones and the community, Leigh and her family decided to make it an annual fundraising event.

Approximately 450 people attended Leigh’s sixth birthday party in August. The event, which included dinner, a special video about the Tampa Shriners Hospital, a chance drawing, a silent auction and dancing, raised more than $50,000. In total, Leigh’s birthday party extravaganzas have resulted in nearly $78,000 in donations to the Tampa Shriners Hospital.

Leigh and her father, David, accept a donation to the Leigh Dittman Foundation. Leigh’s third-annual fundraising event raised more than $50,000 for the Tampa Shriners Hospital.

Vitamins for hair loss which you need for hair growth

images8

Hair loss is an inevitable condition that one has to face atleast once in his lifetime. Research has proved that there is a strong connection between healthy hair and a healthy body. That is why when we fall sick it affects our hair too. Nutrients in blood nourish the hair follicles. If hair follicles become weak, hair loses its grip or hold and results into hair fall. These nutrients are vitamins and without vitamins, hair does not become healthy crop.

Remember; when we are sick, vitamins are absorbed from the hair by the body which results in hair loss. A healthy diet can provide all the essential vitamins to hair. So it is essential to incorporate certain foods in your daily intake. The essential vitamins and their sources are:

?Vitamin A: it is an antioxidant which aids in the production of sebum on the scalp. It is found in fish liver oil, milk, cheese, meat, eggs, broccoli, spinach, cabbage, apricots, peaches, and carrots. ?Vitamin C: it promotes the maintenance of healthy skin and hair. It is found in citrus fruits, strawberries, pineapples, tomatoes, kiwi fruit, green peppers, potatoes, and dark green vegetables. ?Vitamin E: It aids in circulation of blood in the scalp. Rich sources of Vitamin E are wheat germ oil, soybeans, cold pressed vegetable oils, raw seeds and nuts, green leafy vegetables, and dried beans. ?Biotin: also known as Vitamin H, promotes production of keratin, most imp part of hair. It enhances hair follicles and promotes hair growth.
